Meet - Daniel Junker

Indiana, USA

When were you diagnosed with MS? January 2001

What type of MS do you have? Relapsing-Remitting MS (RRMS)

#1: Can you tell us a little about your journey with MS. How did you feel about your initial diagnosis and how it has affected your life?

My journey with MS began with optic neuritis, which started me down the road to my diagnosis.

#2: What MS symptoms do you have and how do you manage them on a daily basis?

I experience several symptoms related to MS, including spasticity, dizziness, and balance problems.

#3: Who/What has been your most important support system?

The neurological group in Ft. Wayne has been my primary source of support and has played a crucial role in my journey.

#4: Do you use any accessories like canes, walkers, or wheelchairs to manage daily activities?

To assist with my daily activities, I rely on accessories such as canes and walkers for support and mobility.

#5: How do you stay positive and motivated in your daily life? What do you do for self-care?

In my daily life, I stay positive and motivated by implementing strategies to maintain a positive mindset. Additionally, I prioritize self-care, which includes practices like applying Neosporin to my swollen legs.

#6: Your story and experiences with MS are incredibly valuable and can provide encouragement and motivation to others in the community. What words of advice or encouragement would you give to someone who is newly diagnosed with MS or going through a challenging time right now?

If you're newly diagnosed with MS or currently facing a challenging time, I would say don't give up! In 2022, I had a series of strokes, which severely impacted my mobility to the point where walking has become increasingly challenging. I can barely walk now.

#7: Have you started a business or mission related to MS? Can you tell us about it and what inspired you to take this step?

Would love to do that. But, I would need some help. Although I don't have a specific mission or business, I make it a point to raise awareness about Multiple Sclerosis.
